Core Services
Comprehensive Security Consulting Services for Greater Boston
Comprehensive Emergency Planning
Our Comprehensive Emergency Planning services are designed to help organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from critical incidents with minimal disruption and maximum safety. This includes both Emergency Response Planning and Crisis Management Planning, working together to create a resilient, proactive framework.
Emergency Response Planning focuses on the immediate actions necessary to protect lives and property during an incident. Plans are tailored to your facility and may include evacuation procedures, lockdown protocols, emergency medical response, and effective internal and external communication during a crisis.
Crisis Management Planning addresses the broader, long-term impacts of an emergency on your organization. This includes strategies to manage your organization's reputation, ensure continuity of operations, and restore normal business functions as quickly as possible. Key components often include media response plans, stakeholder communication strategies, and post-incident recovery measures.
Together, these plans provide a unified approach to navigating emergencies with clarity, control, and confidence.
Active Threat Training
Our Active Threat Training prepares individuals to respond confidently and effectively during high-stress, life-threatening situations. Designed for schools, campuses, businesses, and organizations, this program provides practical skills and critical knowledge focused on preparedness, rapid decision-making, and situational awareness.
Through realistic scenarios and proven strategies, participants learn how to identify early warning signs, respond using the "Run, Hide, Fight" model, initiate lockdowns, evacuate safely, and communicate effectively during a crisis. The training also includes guidance on coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure a unified, efficient response.
Each session is tailored to the specific environment and risks of your organization, ensuring relevant, actionable insights. The ultimate goal is to reduce panic, increase confidence, and empower individuals and teams with a clear plan that can save lives and protect assets. With preparation, your organization can face threats with resilience and a decisive response strategy.
Security Assessments
Our Security Assessments provide a comprehensive evaluation of your organization's physical security to identify vulnerabilities and enhance overall protection. These assessments are designed to uncover weaknesses in your buildings, access points, surveillance systems, and emergency preparedness protocols.
Each assessment includes a Facility and Site Inspection to evaluate the physical layout, perimeter defenses, and surrounding environment. We conduct a detailed Risk Assessment to identify potential threats-ranging from natural disasters to criminal activity or internal risks.
We also perform Security System Testing, reviewing the performance of alarm systems, access control, and CCTV surveillance to ensure they function effectively. Our team evaluates Emergency Preparedness by reviewing current response plans and identifying areas for improvement.
In addition, we assess Personnel Security Measures, including visitor access protocols and staff training, to ensure your people are as protected as your property. The result is a clear, actionable plan to strengthen your organization's overall security posture.

How Parking Lot Lighting Supports School Security and Emergency Readiness
Andre Watson
May 31, 2026
Parking lots are among the busiest and most overlooked areas on school campuses. Poor lighting creates blind spots, reduces visibility, increases accident risks, and weakens overall campus security. Proper school parking lot lighting improves pedestrian safety, strengthens traffic flow.

What Security Technology Can (and Can’t) Do for Your Organization
Andre Watson
May 20, 2026
Many organizations invest in cameras, access control systems, and monitoring tools, believing these technologies automatically make their facilities secure. Cameras are often one of the first — and sometimes only — security investments organizations make.

Preventing Security Risks from Propped Doors in School Buildings
Andre Watson
May 15, 2026
School safety often depends on small daily habits that people stop noticing over time. One of the most common — and most overlooked — security issues in schools is the propped door. A door may be left open during student pickup, outdoor activities, deliveries, or busy class transitions

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does a security consultant do, and how is hiring a security consultant firm different from hiring a security guard company?
Security consultants assess your risks, identify vulnerabilities, and develop written plans and recommendations specific to your organization. They do not patrol your facility or provide on-site staffing. A security guard company provides personnel — people physically present at your location. Secure Response Strategies is a security consulting firm. Our job is to analyze, plan, and advise so your organization knows exactly what to do before, during, and after an emergency. Because we have no financial interest in selling guards or equipment, every recommendation we make is based entirely on what your organization needs.
Q: How much does a security assessment or emergency planning engagement cost?
Fees vary based on the size of your facility, the complexity of your operations, and the scope of the engagement. We do not publish a fixed price list because every organization's situation is different. What we do offer is a free 30-minute initial consultation — a direct conversation to understand your organization and provide a clear proposal before any commitment is made. There is no obligation attached to that first conversation.
Q: Our organization already has an emergency plan in place. Do we still need a security assessment?
Having a plan on paper is very different from having a plan that works under real-world pressure. Most organizations we work with already have some form of emergency documentation, but those plans are often outdated, untested, or not aligned with how the facility operates today. A professional assessment identifies the gaps between what is written and what would happen during an incident. Many of our clients are surprised by what a structured review uncovers, not because they were negligent, but because security gaps are genuinely difficult to see from the inside.
Q: Are you licensed and insured to provide security consulting services in Massachusetts?
Yes. Secure Response Strategies is fully licensed and insured to provide security consulting services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We are also a certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB). A certificate of insurance is available to clients and their legal or risk management teams upon request.
Q: What types of organizations do you work with?
We work exclusively with organizations — not individuals — across Greater Boston and surrounding communities. Our clients include K-12 schools and school districts, healthcare facilities, houses of worship, offices and businesses, and public sector organizations. If you manage a facility or organization responsible for the safety of others, we can help you.
Q: What areas of Greater Boston do you serve?
We serve organizations across the Greater Boston metropolitan area including Suffolk County (Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Chelsea), Middlesex County (Lowell, Newton, Framingham, Waltham, Woburn), Norfolk County (Quincy, Brookline, Dedham, Needham), and Worcester County. For organizations outside these counties, contact us directly to discuss your situation.
